How To | Terrariums

Lately everyone seems to be on this terrarium kick, and I must admit, so have I! They are the cutest things, and there are so many different variations and ways you can present them. Recently I had bought a variety of succulents along with rock, moss and soil to create one of my own. I have been feeling sick all weekend and have not had alot of energy to go out, therefore I thought what better time to do this?

The succulents I had picked up from a greenhouse near my house, but now you can find them in literally any garden centre. I chose 6, as I wanted different shapes, textures and heights. When I was at the greenhouse, they also had a terrarium kit which included the rocks, moss and soil all in one. As this was my first time creating one I opted for the kit. But now knowing how to put everything together I will definitely be buying these things individually to save on cost (although the kit wasn't very expensive).

I found my bowl that I used to house all the plants at Homesense (was about 10 dollars), however I did see smaller ones at Dollarama that are probably just as good. When putting everything together, make sure you put the rocks at the bottom followed by the moss which acts as a filter and finally the soil that you will be putting the succulents in. Make sure the soil is deep enough to cover all the roots. When watering, make sure to water with a spray, as these plants do not need alot of water, and should be placed in constant indirect sunlight. I am so happy with the final product, and I think it makes such a nice decor piece.
