Go-To Products | Winter Essentials

Hello Everyone!

Its about that time of year when the weather drastically changes and in turn so does our skin care and makeup routine. These are just a few of my favourite makeup products that have been getting me through the cold months.

1.) This Nars Dual-Intensity eyeshadow is everything!! I saw it online during the 20% off sale at Sephora, and just fell in love with the colour. The colour is in Dione which is a metallic champagne beige colour. The pigmentation is amazing and it has been my go-to eye shadow for the past month.

2.) Estee Lauder foundation has always been my favourite foundation. It is a thicker foundation, but it doesn't feel heavy on the face. I have probably talked about this a few times already, but literally that's how much I love it! This lasts all day, and I never have to touch up. The shade I use is cool bone, which I believe is the lightest shade in the collection.

3.) This primer is honestly the best primer I have ever tried.... and trust me I have tried them all! This doesn't even compare to the smashbox or benefit primer. This pores no more primer is by Dr. Brandt, and honestly erases my pores. It has a strong scent of tea tree oil, but if you like that scent you will love this product. It absorbs any oil throughout the day and doesn't bother my skin. I highly recommend this!!

4.) This product is the only thing I need for my hair. It is called Uniq One - All in One Treatment by Revlon. It claims to repair dry hair, control frizz, enhance shine, heat protection, adds body, detangles and best of all it smells of coconut!!! If you don't like the scent of coconut, you can get the original formulation, which is just as good. You can buy this a select hair salons and some Shoppers Drug Marts.

5.) This has been my favourite product for the past 2 months, and has significantly improved my skin. This is by Oz Naturals (I believe an American brand) that you can purchase on Amazon. It is very affordable as it is only $19.99. This is a Hyaluronic Acid serum, that helps to plump the skin and improves texture. I usually put this on at night before I put a heavy night cream. Since it is a serum, it sinks into the skin very quickly. I noticed a big difference in my skin even after two nights of using this product.

6.) This last product, I am sure everyone has already heard of. It is the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, and helps to prime your makeup as well as set it. I like it for setting my makeup as it gives your skin a more natural finish after applying your makeup.

Review: Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer

I have got to say the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer is my favourite primer thus far! I have been using the Benefit Porefessional for as long as I can remember, but this has taken its place. This primer has everything that you want in a primer. It blurs out pores, evens out skin texture and colouring along with keeping me matte within my T zone (something that is CRUCIAL for me).

I bought this primer at Sephora for $50 (Canadian dollars) for 1oz which in my opinion is very pricey. In comparison with the Benefit Porefessional at $37 for .75oz, maybe it is very comparable in price as you are getting more product. The product claims to last 8 hours on the skin, and to be humidity-resistant and control shine all day long therefore reducing touch-ups.

It comes in a nice sleek tube, that allows you to easily control the amount you want, so you are not wasting the product. The consistency is more of a mousse or a thicker cream, that actually feels like it is filling in your pores as you are smoothing it over your skin.

The colour of the primer matches my skin perfectly, which gives me flawless finish, as it just looks like my skin but better. I'm not sure how the colouring would look on darker shades of skin, and whether it would still seamlessly fill in the pores. Maybe they should consider making the formula in different shades.
